v3.0 RC1 was released to script owners a few weeks ago. RC2 should be out this weekend.

Arcade Statistics :: phpAS will now keep track and archive various arcade statistics including daily unique visitors, overall games played, most and least popular game, number of new members, total hits in and out for links. Screenshot > http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4589/ss2zd5.jpg

Arcade News / Announcements :: This feature will allow you to post ARCADE NEWS on your website through the admin control panel. You will be able to add / edit / delete all news stories and keep an archive of them.

Built-in Anti-Hotlinking / Hotlink Protection :: Over the past months the act of hotlinking games has been a growing concern for online arcade owners and we made it one of our top priorities to come up with a powerful solution. Tested in IE 6.0-7.0, FireFox and even Netscape, the built-in hotlink protection module has done its job. When activated, instead of displaying the actual filename of the game being played, phpAS will display a uniquely generated name each time the game is loaded, thus not allowing hotlinkers to link to your game files.

Breadcrumb Navigation on Gamepages :: You will now be able to put a Breadcrumb Navigation on your gamepages similar to Home >> Category >> Gamename.

Search Tracking and Latest Searches :: phpAS will now track searches done on your site via your search box. You can decide to keep track of ALL SEARCHES or JUST SEARCHES WITH RESULTS. Results pages will be added to the GOOGLE SITEMAP GENERATOR to help improve SEO of your arcade. You will also be able to "purge" the list of searches by age of last search AND see the complete list of searches in your admin control panel. Screenshot > http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/8285/ss3cw8.jpg

Featured Game :: You now will be able to create a featured game box that will display the featured game(s) on your arcade. You can have as many featured games as you wish and the script will rotate through them randomly. There will be an ON/OFF option on each game to feature it or not PLUS a featured icon for each game.

New Default Template :: We be switching from our old default template to a new default template that is currently running at www.FreeFlashArcade.com.

Integrated IN-BETWEEN Game Display Page :: This allows you to create a page that will be displayed before each game is played. You will now be able to turn ON/OFF the IN-BETWEEN AD PAGE, determine is EVERYONE or just GUESTS will see the page, as well as set the delay period via your admin control panel.

Sub-Categories :: phpArcadeScript now allows for sub-categories for better organization of online arcades.

Integrated Game Submission :: Now you can allow visitors to your arcade the ability to submit and upload their favorite games to your arcade.

More Advanced Link Trading System :: phpAS will now track both the daily hits in and out as well as the overall hits in and out for each link in your link trading system.

Session-Based Cache System :: After speaking with some of our larger arcades over the past couple of months regarding CPU and MySQL Queries, we have decided to implement a session-based cache system which should majorly cut down on both. Most smaller arcades won't see the difference right off the bat, but as they begin to grow, they will realize the server-load will be amazingly low which allows for a better gaming experience for their visitors.

Other new features:

-         Report Broken Game

-         Member Referral System

-         Pruning of unverified members and sending reminder emails

-         Nightly database maintenance

And really many more that I don't have listed.

I'm comparing the various scripts, is there a list of features the new version is going to have?  Any ETA?

Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like some very nice new features.
Is the RC1/2 available now if I were to purchase?

And of course a few more questions:
*I noticed a User can have only 1 favorite game saved. Is that correct and still the case in v3?

*In other threads I've seen that upgrades are free. But for how long? 6 years from now I can upgrade to v8....?

*Newsletter feature looks like a regular text only? Can this support HTML or can the user DB (email addresses?)  be easily pulled into another an external newsletter app?

*Some other scripts offer the ability to allow game code posting into users websites/blogs/myspace. Is this possible?

Thanks for the help.

We only allow for 1 user favorite game. Once v3.0 becomes stable we will be working on a multi-favorite addon.

Your purchase of a phpAS license allows for free updates. We started about 14 months ago with v1.0 and now we are hitting v3.0.

The newsletter feature supports plaint text or HTML. It only sends to user email addresses that are registered. Meaning you cannot use external files to populate the email listing.

The Add to Blog / MySpace / Etc code was an addon for v2.0 and it coded into v3.0. (you can see it in action for any games at www.freeflasharcade.com)

Would I be able to get RC1/RC2 with a new purchase or do I need to wait until released?

On the newsletter I meant the other direction. Can I pull the email addresses from the phpAS DB easily?  So I can put them into a 3rd party newsletter app?

Thanks again for the quick reply

If your order today, you will be sent RC2 when it becomes available. We are not sending v3.0 to any new customers when they first purchase as we are still working out the bugs.

The easiest way to pull it would be to do a MySQL Export of the users table and then copy and paste the email addresses from there.

Will you be posting, where pre-sales members can see, when RC2 is available?

I'm going to purchase but once I do I'm going to want to tear into it, but no sense digging into 2.x when 3.x on it's way.

You get free upgrades for life so you'd only be 'digging in' once either way Wink.

Actually what I mean is I'm anxious to dig into the product but no sense in me digging into 2.x features when it's not what I'm going to be using.  I'll just be finding likes/dislikes and customization that won't be there in a day/week/month.

Just curious...
