Hey All,

Yesterday we released a new module to display an ad before games load on your arcade. The PreGame AdLoader integrates into existing functions of phpAS and makes use of existing systems to see if the user navigated to a new game or just refreshed the same one. It also makes use of the Ad Zones to display ads and rotate between ads if more than one ad is assigned to that particular ad zone.

This module will be included for free from phpAS v4.2 when we release that (no release date yet), but we decided to release it now for a small fee of $15 for those that want to have it right away. The module is fully finished and operational.

We have two more free copies remaining! check out our facebook page to find the coupon to secure your free copy: Php Arcade Script on Facebook

Hi Jan,

This seems like a nice addon, and will definately be welcome in the new release.

My only question is why you are charging for it??? Doesnt make sense? Its going to be included in the new release anyway? So why try and grab a few extra dollars from you loyal client base in this way? The way I see it, if you want to spread the news that PHP Arcade Script is a great tool with lots of great value added functionality coming on board regularly, then charging for this sort of stuff is not the way to build a loyal fan base?

Just my 2cents though ...  Wink

Thx,
Jay.

Hey Jay,

You raise a valid point, and I'll try to explain our reasons.

To start at the bottom, development take time and cost money. We provide free upgrades to phpAS v4.x and every previous license sold, this means 6 years of customers get new development we do for v4.x for free.

We reached the decision that instead of doing any sort of pre-sale of unreleased versions, increasing the price of the script, or stopping the free upgrades we would try to pre-release new modules that will later be included in upgrades in hopes that this will provide some extra income to support further development of phpAS.

For those that do not want to pay for this at all, they will get the extra features for free when the new version with these modules are released. For those that want them now, they get a chance to enhance their script right away and not have to hire custom coders to do these modifications and at the same time they support the development of phpAS allowing us to put more time into development instead of marketing.

I hope that makes it a little clearer. Pre-releasing a module against a small fee also made more sense to us then just letting a new module sit and collect dust until that next version was released.
